Should I try to "remove" myself from their lists?

Many spam emails will have instructions in their body on how "to remove yourself from our mailing list." These unsubscribe instructions should never be followed, and always be ignored. Removing an active email address from their list is not in a spammer's vocabulary. If a spam email offers to remove you from their list, you can automatically assume that they are lying and may be trying to invoke a response from you.

Often following these "remove" instructions notifies the spammers that your email address is valid, and that you are actively reading emails that are sent to it. Therefore, asking to be removed from a spammer's list will often have the opposite effect by encouraging more spam to be sent to your email address.
